There are a number of ways to assess a student?s language level. The first one is tutorials. These can take place with the whole group or with individual students. It can be very useful to ask the students to evaluate their course by means of a questionnaire or guided discussion. If the students? English is too poor for this kind of discussion, in monolingual classes it is worth doing it in the students? mother tongue if possible. The third one is tests.
