Unit 18 expanded and clarified grammar terminology. Through this unit I can now recognize and understand modal auxiliary verbs: the past, present, and future uses and ideas for methods to convey these ideas to students. Passive and active voice, while being familiar in everyday usage, are fascinating to consider when examined grammatically for sentence clarity. The discussion of relative clauses--defining and non defining--explains how we give essential information as opposed to extra information about a noun in a sentence. The three types of Phrasal verbs: Intransitive, Transitive Separable, and Transitive Inseparable, are grammatically slippery but will surely be needed by our students. Fortunately there are many creative ideas out there to make learning grammar fun.
