This unit covered a few special groups that English teachers may encounter. It started off explaining the different types of beginners that there are. It's very important to know their needs and go slowly. Teaching individual students has its advantages and disadvantages, such as highly motivated, but also not being able to perform certain group activities. Teaching children has some similarities as to teaching beginners, but focused on keeping the lessons fun and varied because children have short attention spans. Business English also has different dynamics to be aware of and often target specific areas of English. It's important to plan out lessons to meet their needs. The unit also mentioned that it is best to avoid use of the students' mother tongue during the course.
