This unit deals with the use of coursebooks and other lesson materials. It provides a brief overview of what authentic (magazines, poems, songs, brochures) and created materials (crosswords, role play cards, gap fill activity) are and why they should be used. It also talks about the advantages and disadvantages of coursebooks and the tips on how to use them in the best way (when needed, omit, replace, supplement or adapt parts). The most useful part for me was analysing coursebooks and the different factors that need to be taken into account (price, design, methodology, syllabus, skills, etc.). The video lesson summarises the pdf part of the unit and adds the tips on how to use the wipe board, worksheets, CDs and DVDs, dictionaries and visual ids, in addition to coursebooks.
