This Unit discussed the use of books and course material in the classroom. The books are usually contradictory among the teacher, some swear them and others despise them. The material for the lesson can be created and authentic. Authentic material such as newspapers, brochures, magazines etc are more motivating and interesting to the students however they are not always suitable for a specific level and has to be used with caution. The created material can greatly supplement the course book. There are many resources for that including teacher's creativity. The main advantages of using the course book are: proven, tested, allows track the progress and provides continuity. The main disadvantages: too general, may become predictable and boring, can be not relevant and outdated.
