Teach English in Xiuying Jiedao - Haikou Shi
In unit 13 I learned about teaching pronunciation and phonology. I personally found this unit attractive because I have it fell in line with many things I had learned while studying linguistics previously. I especially like teaching phonology to my Japanese students because it makes a major difference in their ability to read and speak understandable English. Unfortunately, many teachers in Japan write the phonetics of English words for their students in a Japanese script call Katakana. After doing this it ruins the student?s ability to phonetically pronounce coherent English. One thing I had not paid much attention to before was intonation. This is because I myself have trouble with recognizing my own intonation. However, I found the arrow diagrams to be rather helpful.
