In this unit, we looked at the past verb tense. This tense has multiple forms including past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. The past simple verb form depends on whether the verb is regular or irregular. Irregular verb forms should be studied and memorized. Past simple is mainly used when an action occurred at a specific time and when one asks about the time. Past perfect is used for past actions that were interrupted and to describe development over time that occurred at a past moment. The past perfect takes a similar form to the present perfect, accept the verb ?to have? is now in the past simple tense.
