This lesson has allowed me to focus on what areas to focus on when teaching students various vocabulary words, the functions of the English language, and grammar. It was interesting to learn that the origin of the word is not something that is needed to be taught when teaching vocabulary words. I have made the error in the past to teach Latin prefixes and suffixes to help students understand the origin of the word. I felt this was helping them understand the meaning of various vocabulary words but I can see how this may be confusing to ESL learners. The lesson was appropriate in length and hit the key points that I will need to know when teaching.
