The unit gave an overview of the course and the teaching opportunities available upon completion. The commonly used acronyms for terms and organisations were also listed, and young learners were defined as children between the ages of five and thirteen years. I am looking forward to studying the teaching approaches and methodologies to be used with young learners. I believe that young learners make an interesting group to teach because of their curiosity, ease of absorbing language and lack of concern about making mistakes. However, I do recognise that their short attention span, especially those under ten years, can prove challenging for a teacher.
