Unit one looks at teachers and students in different ways. It focuses on their roles, attributes and responsibilities inside the classroom. We learn that teacher has a very diverse role in order to motivate students. The good teacher knows which role to play and how to carry it out. The unit also gives us a brief overview of differences between young and adult learners. We learn, for example, that young are usually less motivated than adult learners. Thus, the good teacher must be aware that teaching methodologies distinct over different age groups. Beyond that, the unit distinguishes between standard English language levels from beginners to advanced.
