Unit 11 talks about receptive skills, namely reading and listening. It covers the different reasons of why we read and listen. It then continues with how we read and listen - depending on the situation we will use different reading and listening techniques. Finally it looks at the pre-teaching of difficult vocabulary so that the students will be better able to understand the following exercise. But it also states that we should be careful in selecting the texts we use as they shouldn't be too difficult or too easy. I feel more confident now in approaching classes that focus on reading or listening. Especially the example lessons given were very useful.
