The five main conditionals and reported speech were covered in this unit. Students will require lots of practice constructing sentences with conditional clauses, especially since such sentences can refer to the past,present or future. Teachers, therefore, must ensure that students have mastered the simple present, simple past and future tenses before teaching conditionals. Using reported speech will most likely present challenges for students as there are many changes to be made. However, providing students with a table with changes and giving them lots of opportunities to practise a few changes at a time will build their confidence and competence.
