This unit focused upon the most common problem situations in a classroom and provided ways by which to manage them. Most problems seem to occur during first lessons, were rapport needs to be created. Also the different levels within a class, the number of students and use of native language are also challenging issues. I learnt how to deal with reluctant students, by using a mix of different techniques, such as pair work, role plays and controlled practice, as well as how to deal with different level students, which is often an issue in my classes. Activity ideas, such as keeping them on the same subject, but using different materials, was very helpful.
