This chapter was especially meaningful to me, as speaking is a skill I myself struggle with, and writing is one of my passions. The speaking section showed how important it is to focus on the right things at the right times--accuracy during the controlled exercises and activities, and fluency during the more creative parts. Writing is a blend of both--we want the student to be creative in their writing, but they must also focus on their accuracy and technique, for appearances' sake. It's sad that so much can be determined on a person's writing skill, even the shape of their letters, but it's important to help the student learn and adapt their skills.
