This unit went into detail about teaching one of the hardest and also most avoided areas of the English language. Yet, it is one of the most important. Stress, intonation, and phonology are incredibly important to understanding speech and producing fluently. Effective communication is severely hampered by mispronunciation. I was very intimidated going in, because pronunciations is such an intricate part of language that I never really think about day to day. But not knowing how pronunciation works would leave me as ineffective in properly aiding my students with one of the most challenging aspects of learning the language, yet one of the most important.
