Admittedly, it has been a while since I've studied grammar. While I will most always use proper grammar, I don't often think about how or why I am using it. This unit was a great refresher course. I learned all the different parts of speech, and their terms. For example, as I have learned (or rather, relearned) in this unit, there are a number of different types of nouns: common, proper, compound, abstract and collective. While it is not necessary for me, as a native speaker, to know the different types of nouns, verbs or adjectives, it is essential when learning the English language, and therefore is necessary for me, as a teacher, to know them as well.
