This unit taught me about how learner levels from A1 to C2 are defined and described as Breakthrough to Advanced. It also looked at how young and older people tend to learn and what difficulties might be associated with such groups. However the majority of the unit covered positive teacher and learner characteristics. A good teacher should care more about the progress of his students than about his own teaching as such. They should also be able to switch between the various roles a teacher has during lessons: prompter, organiser, assessor etc. When it comes to learners they should be motivated, willing to ask questions and not be afraid to make mistakes.
