In Unit 13, we discussed teaching pronunciation and phonology. I have learned that this will is the more neglected aspect of teaching the English language as well as the hardest. I learned that placing stress or emphasis on certain words in a sentence can change the context of the meaning of the sentence. I am of the opinion that learning the phonetic script and therefore being able to teach the students to read and pronounce it will be a great help in expediting the learning of the English language. I feel it is important to implement pronunication lessons often to help gain further understanding and to enable students to learn more easily on their own.
