As this unit discusses, the teacher has a challenge of creating balance in their use of appropriate methods, teaching activities, and means of providing corrections/feedback in order to help students of varying skill levels and background to improve their English language acquisition. In my eight years of experience in working with ESL and EFL students (both in the USA and abroad), I have learned through trial and error the benefits of many of these techniques and methodologies without having specifically identified or known their formal terms. It is interesting to learn more details about these theories and methodologies, and their benefits or drawbacks.
