This unit was an important introduction to the framework of language learning and the various roles within the student-teacher relationship. I learned potential pitfalls of teaching styles that do not vary the role of the teacher and students. The emphasis on the background and age of the students was also interesting because, depending on who the students are, a teacher will have to modify his or her primary role. Some students may respond better to a facilitator than a manager or see more results from assessment rather than prompting. Furthermore, identifying the age, language level, and learning strengths of students will help with lesson organization.
