Unit 4 looks at the types of material available, how they can be created or adapted, and how to put them to use. I have learned about the form and structure of a lesson plan using the ESA methodology and about the advantages and disadvantages of using authentic and non-authentic materials in the classroom. I have also learned about points to consider when creating (non-authentic) materials for the classroom. For example, 'What language are the students trying to test or use?' and 'How are they going to be used in the classroom and at which level are they to be used?'. The unit also contains a lesson plan sample and useful information about book resources.
