This unit focuses on the grammar that English speakers use to talk about the past: the simple past, the past continuous, the past perfect, and the past perfect continuous. Additionally, the unit describes the situations in which each grammar point is used, how to conjugate a variety of verbs appropriately, and common mistakes made by ISL students. One useful thing that I learned from this unit is that there are a variety of techniques that a teacher can use to effectively teach the material. Some activities - such as story telling - combine both the simple past and the past continuous, and can be an effective way to reinforce the differences between them.
