This unit was very useful in learning about the importance of the receptive skills or reading and listening. I learned about our different reasons for listening and reading, such as for a purpose and for entertainment. I learned how we read and listen using different skills such as predictive skills, scanning, skimming,detailed information, and deduction from context.I learned some of the problems with listening and reading and the language. Solutions include Pre-teaching vocabulary, and careful selection of texts. Other important things for the teacher to consider in motivating their students are the topics chosen and the tasks presented to the students.
