During the first lessons with a group it is important for the teacher to establish rapport with the students. The students should also establish rapport with each other, especially if they are part of a new group. The teacher could use surveys to do so. The teacher should start with a warmer to begin the class. A difficulty that the teacher might have could be working with students that are at different levels.Another is when students speak their native language too often in class. In this case the teacher should only respond to English and make sure his/her instructions are always clear. With reluctant students it is useful to do role-plays and pair work.
