Teach English in Zhonghua Nanlu Jiedao - Guiyang Shi
This unit gives information on different aspects of course development, for example designing a syllabus, course evaluations, needs analysis and level testing. At the very beginning of the course it is important to give a level test and needs analysis (could be given in the same class) because the teacher needs to know what sort of level their students are at and also specifically what the group of students need to focus on while taking the course (for example, giving business presentations, writing e-mails, talking on the phone, etc.). After the level test and needs analysis is taken, the teacher can then make a syllabus. One beneficial way to create a syllabus is to look at what the majority of the students want to learn. Allow for 2-3 lessons to be dominated by tests, evaluations and introductions. At the end of the course, it is good to have the students give feedback and complete a course evaluation form. This will allow the teacher to know their strengths and weaknesses through the eyes of their students and will let them see which areas need improvement.
