This lesson was about coursebooks, and lesson materials. One thing that I learned from this reading is that materials are divided into to separate categories authentic, and created. Authentic materials are very topical and vast. However you must be careful when using authentic materials because they are not graded for level. Some things might be good for a low level but not good for a high level class. An authentic material that I have never used are poems. I think in the future we might study poetry in one of my high level classes. Created materials tend to be more artistic. Examples are word gap, word search, crossword puzzles etc. I use these materials often with lower level students because I think it's good for remembering vocabulary. I think that using both created, and authentic materials are good. As a teacher it's not good to rely strictly on a book. The book is helpful, but if you use it too often students may become bored. Your class will most likely suffer if students are bored. Supporting materials tend to be more fun, and exciting for students.
