When watching the first video, all I could think was how irritated I was watching the teacher! Hearing \"it's easy\" and \"no, no\" repeatedly was so frustrating, and I'm a native English speaker! I couldn't begin to imagine what was going through the students' heads during the lesson. The second lesson was so fundamentally different, with smiles and encouragement and the teacher making sure he knew everyone's names, it was much easier to watch and pay better attention. Teaching adults simple concepts, with what could be deemed as \"childish\" vocabulary, can be very hard to do. There needs to be respect on both sides, and the teacher cannot appear condescending, which was the biggest problem in the first video. Seeing the worst and the best the teacher could provide helped narrow down what I, as a teacher, should focus on as well. It was a great practice for reflecting one's own teaching methods, and, in the future, being able to compare myself to the demonstrations. It also helps illustrate the difference just the attitude of a teacher can do for an effective class.
