Unit 17 covers equipment and teaching. Knowing how to effectively utilize the resources at your disposal is critical to being a good teacher, and enlivens the lesson by introducing variety. This unit offers multiple pages of links to use, and discusses the importance of practicing before using electronic equipment in the classroom. In addition, this unit includes tips and suggestions for how to fully utilize materials such as the video camera, youtube, dvd/cd players, overhead projectors, touch-screens, worksheets, dictionaries, and visual aids. In particular, I benefited from the tips and pointers for the whiteboard, such as avoiding writing in all capital letters on the board, and erasing material as soon as it is becomes irrelevant. Although it can seem easy to use electronic equipment, something can always go wrong, so this unit advises having a back-up plan and practicing (if possible) beforehand. Overall I think this unit provided a solid overview of various resources a teacher can take advantage of, and the links are definitely an excellent resource to explore.
