In this lesson, I learned about the four forms of the past tense. I learned about the past simple tense, the past continuous tense, the past perfect tense, and the past perfect continuous tense. Each of these tenses is different from one another, for example, the past simple tense is formed with the use of -ed or -d at the end of the base form of a word. There are, however, differences in verbs because there are irregular verbs that have -ed or -d added to the end of them. The past continuous tense typically incorporates the words ?Was? and ?Were? within the sentence to show gradual development in the past. The past perfect tense uses ?Had? and ?Had not? within the sentence to show that an action that happened in the past happened before another past event that had completely been finished. The past perfect continuous tense uses the words ?Had? and ?Been? in the same sentence as well as ?Ing?. This talks about actions in the past that occurred continuously up until the past moment being thought about.
