I have learnt from this unit that 'modals' can be used to express obligation, possibility, permission, prohibition, ability and advice. In the passive, the doer of the action is much less important or not important at all. As for relative clauses, it is essential to comprehend the difference between defining and non-defining types. Phrasal verbs present the most difficulty for English learners. They are combinations of verbs with adverbial or prepositional particles. They are a particular problem for learners because their meanings are unrelated to the meanings of individual words in combinations.
