Unit 19 presented information on the various age groups and language levels one may be required to teach. Each group has its own needs and challenges. Young students in school may experience problems at home or peer pressure which can have a negative impact in the classroom, but often younger students have an innate curiousity and are eager to learn. I spent a year assisting an English teacher in a French primary school classroom, and most of the students were so excited there were times it was almost a behavioral problem and I had to ensure that all students got a fair chance to answer questions. Teaching business English can be the most intimidating because many teachers think they need to know all the vocabulary for a specific business field, but that is not true. Often, teachers are teaching students how to use the vocabulary they already know. Business students can be highly motivated because they may receive a promotion, or they can be frustrated because the class cute into their free time. All levels have advantages and disadvantages for teachers, and specific needs.
