In this chapter we sketch the performance assessment for students, as it determines whether or not the goals of education are being met.There are a number of ways to assess a student's language level: (1) Tutorials - It can take place with the whole group or with individual students. (2) Evaluating by students - It can be ask the students to evaluate by questionnaire or guided discussion about what they have been learned. (3) Tests - There are a number of difference tests as show below: Placement tests also known as a level tests. These tests are designed to enable teachers to place new students in a particular class according to their ability. Diagnostic tests basically tells us about the students current strengths and these allow teachers to focus the planning on students gaps in knowledge. Progress tests are useful to the teachers to show areas of class weakness. These tests should include a balance of all four skills as well as vocabulary and grammar that have been covered. Practice tests are usually used for revision purposes. Its should be as near as possible to the style and content of the external exam. External proficiency tests are separate in three difference categories such as (1) General English, (2)Business English and (3)Academic English
