This unit is all about the necessary qualities and roles that teachers and students should have in the teaching-learning process. For instance, teachers should possess different characteristics which are very important in order to arouse the interest in English Language learning of every student. However, learners on the other hand should also do their part to have an effective teaching-learning situation such as asking questions when they are not sure about the lessons, actively participate in different activities organized by the teacher and most importantly they must show willingness to learn and accept constructive criticisms from the teacher. Aside from these, there are also several factors that need to be considered in order to have a successful classroom teaching experience such as the learners' age, learning experience, language awareness and language abilities. As a teacher we should be aware of these factors and should know on how to handle them properly to avoid classroom conflicts among our learners. In conclusion, this unit provided me with essential knowledge on how to develop a good relationship between mentors and learners taking in consideration the many factors that can affect the success or the failure of the teaching-learning relationship.
