It is important to use a variety of different teaching aids to keep English lessons interesting. A board is a very important tool to have as you as the teacher need to be able to write on the board and draw diagrams or pictures to show the students. Using an overhead projector for overhead transparencies is a handy aid to have. Overhead projectors are an excellent aid as long as you have the board or whiteboard or at least a wall to show the lesson onto. Its important to remember to write on the board clearly so that all the students can see it and not use capitalised text as this is more difficult to read. Visual aids and worksheets are an important part of any lesson to prompt the students with their English language. There are many other aids available such as CDs,DVDs,videos and camera that are very useful in the classroom. We mustn't forget dictionaries as these are the most important tools for the student. Students need to be shown how to use the dictionary until they become familiar with them. There are excellent English dictionaries that are specially designed for English language students. Computers and photocopiers are an essential part in the classrooms these days, if not in the actual classroom then there is usually access to them for printing and copying.
