In this unit, I learned there were more uses of eye contact than I realized! I also realized how gestures and other visal stimuli can be useful for reducing teach talk time, which is very good to know. I enjoyed the various tools provided on this topic at the end as well, which will be useful moving forward. A very important theme from this unit was ensuring inclusivity and equality within the classroom. I know this will have a big impact on the students, and I believe it is very important to maintain a similar behaviour toward each student, regardless of feelings, as mentioned. The pros and cons of different groupings made sense and will be useful for providing ideas when arranging classes. Suggesting where the teacher should be positioned throughout various activities is very helpful, and demonstrated how many factors are involved in running a class effectively. I greatly appreciated the emphasis placed on developing rapport, as I think it is one of the most important things for a teacher to do and will strongly affect how the class is run. Finally, the guidelines and ideas surrounding problem behaviour is very important to know, as we should, as teachers, be aware of the various factors that could play a role and use that knowledge to guide our responses moving forward.
