This unit discusses how to teach special groups when teaching English as a foreign language. Students can range from a few different types of beginners. These types are used to define their experience and motivation regarding the English language. This ranges from no experience with the alphabet to students who have been introduced to the language before and may even remember some sentence structures. This section also explains what it may be like to teach students individually, in 1-on-1 sessions, and the plethora of activity ideas available for this. It seems as though its best to always have extra material prepared for individual students, as naturally 1-on-1 teaching tends to move faster than teaching an entire classroom. I also learned that a needs analysis for business groups is used to establish what the students interests are and help the teacher decide what material to prepare for future lessons. Lastly this unit finished by talking about both multilingual and monolingual classrooms. I learned the advantages of both, including that in a multilingual classroom the students have no common language other than English, and in a monolingual classroom the students generally have the same problems with English due to the fact that all the students have the same home language.
