Teach English in Xunwang XiAng - Guigang Shi
This unit concerned teaching different kinds of groups, what the special needs of these groups may be, and how one should approach these groups. It provided instruction on teaching beginner students, individual students, children, business groups or individuals, and multilingual or monolingual students. Some material in this unit was familiar, like the unit's general instruction on teaching children, because of my experience teaching younger ages. There was also material which, while offered in greater detail and complexity here, had come up previously in this course. For instance, I recognized some of the instruction on teaching beginner students. However, there was much in this unit that was completely new to me. This is particularly true of the instruction provided on teaching English to businessmen and businesswomen. The section in this unit on facilitating a \"Needs Analysis\" for business students and constructing a curriculum/lesson plan from its results was very helpful. Overall, I valued the specificity in this unit. Often, throughout this course, I've struggled to visualize how I would apply this course's general instruction to specific groups. This unit will be a valuable resource as I prepare to teach the (currently unknown) English level and age level of my future class.
