Planning ahead helps create a logical sequence for teaching lessons, produces a working document, records what has been taught, and it can be used a a guide for someone who is covering your class. Generally, a plan should consist of general info about the class, what should happen during the class, learner and teach objectives, anticipated problems for students and teachers, and teaching aids. Moreover, the teaching plan should include the phase (engage/study/activate) and what type of interaction is intended for use (SS, ST, TS). DEGO is an acronym used to help remember the process for study activities. Firstly, demonstrate the process of the activity, then elicit the correct answer, and finally give out the material. Monitor students and check for progress and common errors but do not interrupt them. Afterwards, you may give feedback and corrections. Try to begin by encouraging self-correction followed by peer-to-peer correction and then finally teacher corrections. Planning sequence of lessons helps map out your goals. It should be flexible and be able to adjust to the students needs. The plan should cover all skills which include reading, writing, seeking and listening. Planning lessons gives focus to where your classes are going and presents a clearer structure to the students.
