From my personal experience schools usually provide teachers with placement tests and so on. So you don't usually get to practice to create these tests by yourself. For example, in my school where I worked 3 years ago it was a duty of the Academic director to create all the tests. Also I have experience of taking IELTS exam and preparing students for both IELTS and TOEFL (as far as we, foreigners know, they are supposed to be interchangeable; for example, applying for master's or phd program in China you can submit one or another at your choice). As I mentioned earlier, I only passed IELTS some years ago applying for my master's abroad, but I was tutoring students who intended to sit TOEFL (not to sit, actually, to pass) exam. They seemed absolutely different to me (I was teaching a girl, who was going to sit a computer version of TOEFL though. In future I hope I will be more professional at preparing students for external exams, as Im learning so much form this course. To sum up, I find this Unit very useful (well, I say it about almost every unit, except those, where I 'fail' final unit tests - fail in comparison to those i manage to pass 100%, but it is true, I do find this and previous units useful for my future career and I hope to be able to apply knowledge I gain studying this course).
