Teach English in Gangcheng Jiedao - Guigang Shi
The last of the grammar units, this unit covered modal auxiliary verbs, passive voice, defining and non-defining relative clauses, and the three types of phrasal verbs (intransitive, transitive separable, transitive inseparable). As with previous grammar units, for each of the different grammatical features, this unit described the feature in question, provided examples for its different uses, and explained its form and conjugation. Further, for the modal auxiliary verbs, this unit provided a couple of teaching ideas. And, as with previous units on grammar, there was much in this unit which I did not recall and which was new information. Prior to this unit, I would not have been able to define, explain, or identify phrasal verbs, modal auxiliary verbs, or relative clauses. Passive voice was the only concept from this unit that I already understood, having covered it often in my English courses in high school and college. While it's true that I encountered modals in previous units in this course, this unit cemented the concept in my mind. The teaching ideas for modals was also a helpful resource, although I wished for more example activities for the other concepts in this unit. All in all, this was a very instructive unit, with much that I did not know, had forgotten, or could not yet articulate.
