Teach English in Zhanqian Jiedao - Guangzhou Shi
Good teachers care about teaching, but more about the learning of students. A good teacher has many different roles and they depend on the type of activity the teacher teaches and what the students should achieve from the activity. When considering a good learner, age, culture, language, and level of motivation for learning is important. There are three age categories to consider. The first is thirteen and over where teaching is the most difficult. These students are often more unmotivated, self conscious and unwilling to take risks or experiment with language. The second is pre-puberty (age 8-12). This age group is more respective to new sounds, words and grammar of a new language. The third group is young learners (age 7 and less). This group is becoming a big market worldwide. They have a shorter attention span and they have barely grasped the grammar of their native language. They are generally more amenable to have fun with in class activities. When it comes to learning experience, adult learners base on high level of study experiences and have a fixed view of new teaching. This goes along with their own history of success and failure that could cause them to believe they either can or cannot succeed with the language. Young learner's view on previous learning experiences don't tend to influence their views. They are more likely to have a more open minded approach. Culture with language is going to be different anywhere one works in the world. If one student is intermediate in one country, they may be advanced in another and vice versa. There are six common European framework levels. To summarize it, it could be put into three categories: Lower-level, mid-level and Higher-level. When it comes to motivation of foreign language learners, the reasons for attendance are future career prospects, travel, to improve grades or achieve success in exams, to study or live in and English speaking country, to communicate with friends, partners and colleagues and lastly for the interest of languages. I personally feel that the younger a learner the easier they learn because they can barely speak their native tongue and they have nothing to compare it with. Therefore this would be the group of students I choose to teach. I would see a greater amount of success based on their performance this way and it would be more motivating and rewarding as a teacher.
