Teach English in Dongjiao Jiedao - Guangzhou Shi
The following items are usually found and used in schools, study centers, etc: 1.The white/black board - all classroom should have a white or black board as they can be used to write, draw, stick things on, project overhead transparencies, etc. 2.Interactive white boards (IWBs) - though on the expensive side, these generally provide much more functionality than your standard white/black boards. 3.Overhead projectors - useful for showing pre-prepared OHTs, as an alternative to standard white boards. 4.Visual aids - many different types of visual aids can be used during a class, either bought pre-made or created by the teacher. Most common examples are real objects, photos, etc. 5.Worksheets and work-cards - these can either be bought through already published material or can be created by the teacher. Very useful for the study phase of a lesson. 6.The cassette recorder and player - one of the most well known and used tools in the past by EFL teachers. It can be used to record and playback authentic material and adapted material alike. 7.CD players - basically a replacement for the cassette players, functions almost the same way as well. 8.Videos and DVD players - almost same functionality as the above mentioned items only giving more visual aid through the use of videos. These have demonstrated to improve motivation for students. Gives much more variety to the teachers to share information during lesson. 9.Video camera - can be used to record students during an activity which can later be used for analysis and discussion. Can also be used by students for film projects and activities. 10.Dictionaries - one of them essential items for language learners. Can be either in book form or computer. Every classroom must contain a number of them available for students to access. 11.Course books - almost every school provides these to students. Generally used by students and teachers alike and is normally expected by the students to be a part of any course. 12.Resource books - these can range from grammar exercise books, to communication game books. Usefull for the teacher to supplement, adapt, or replace any material within a coursebook. 13.Photocopier - very important and most schools will have one or have access to one. Needed by teachers and staff alike for photocopying necessary materials. 14.Computers - generally used on a day-to-day basis by almost everyone, these are gradually becoming more used in the English language learning process. Can have use in many different situations. 15.Online resources - basically comes into play with computers, there are many different options for resources available online for teachers and students to make use of.
