Teach English in Changzhou Jiedao - Guangzhou Shi
This unit encompasses of the different types of materials to be used by us, educators in teaching our students. As we all know, materials are important in the teaching process since they help our students to learn better. According to what I have learned, we have two types of materials known to be authentic and non-authentic. When we say authentic materials, these are the things that have not been designed for the classroom. Some examples of these are magazines, newspapers, video clips, and other materials that are produced for a real or specific purpose. Meanwhile, non-authentic materials are composed of teaching aids that are designed by teachers or a certain educational company. These includes worksheets, text books, and other instructional tools such as DVD's or CD's. They stand as teachings aids that add spice to the students' learning process. On the other hand, this unit also tackles the importance of lesson planning and the certain components of making a lesson plan. Lesson planning is already a big part of teaching since as educators we really need to plan the flow of our lesson in order to provide a suitable and an organize flow the teaching. However, I do believe that lesson plans only stand as guides for us to remember the things that we need to do during our class. We should not become slaves of our own lesson plans since they only help us to organize the flow of our teaching but not definitely stick on what's there in the plan. We should still become flexible as we teach our students and provide proper adjustments as possible if needed. Meanwhile, having an organize teaching does not only depend with the suitable and varied kinds of materials presented by the teachers and well-written lesson plans but also classroom management also takes a big part of it. As educators, being a good classroom manager promotes effective learning since classroom management helps to stabilize the flow of an organize teaching and learning process with in the learning environment. Seeing all the students actively participate in activities given by their teacher produce better learning. Knowing how to handle classroom problems accordingly help students maintain their focus to the lesson and understand their behavior as well. Most importantly, showing our students that we can handle them with love and care despite of their negative behavior let them feel appreciated and respected by their teachers. So, in my own views, having a good classroom management will help to produce a more meaningful and effective learning among our students. And I think that, the teacher is still the best kind of visual aid in the learning environment since what we show to our students, they usually imitate and remember.
