In this unit, i have learnt so far course books and lesson materials which is divided into two: Authentic ones and the created ones. Authentic materials such as poems, newspapers, magazines etc and for created materials we can give lots of examples, flash cards, word search, role play cards etc. The point it to use them all in balanced way. And course books consist of such materials like students book, workbook etc. In this unit, i also learned the usage of materials, their advantages and disadvantages. For example: use of visual aids is really important to arouse interest and stimulate the discussion in the class it also reduces the teacher talk time and in contrast improve student talk time. Course books have their own advantages and disadvantages. A course book is graded for level and it is quicker for a teacher than creating a material by him/herself. However a teacher shouldn't use it all the time throughout the lesson. Making the best use of the materials is very important.
