In this unit I first learned about the difference between authentic and created materials. In terms of authentic materials, I understood to whom they are adapted, at what stage, in other words, when and why to use them. Regarding created materials, I reviewed what types of materials exist (crosswords, word puzzles, flashcards etc) and in what contexts and stages they should be used. I found it interesting to see the types of materials used in a lesson - at different stages of a lesson - such as telephone role-play cards and using images to tell a story and generate discussion. I reviewed course books and their various types, and learned about the advantages and disadvantages for each. I also read about options for using and analysing course books.
