From this unit i understand how important are receptive skills in our daily lives. Reading, listening and writing all are equally important in understanding a context of our pre-existing knowledge. This unit taught me the difference of understanding the context for productive skills, specific information, general idea and detailed information and deduction from context.In this unit, Unit 11: Teaching Receptive Skills, I have learned about the various types of receptive skills. I have learned about predictive skills, skimming skills, and scanning skills and I have learned how to implement that into a lesson plan for EAL learners. I have learned how to incorporate this knowledge in a way that will help students with their understanding.
