Whatever the level of the class, and however the teacher arranges the study phase of the lesson, there are four things that students need to do with new language; be exposed to it, understand its meaning, understand how it?s constructed and be able to practice and produce it. After I read through this chapter, I can easily apply the ESA method to introduce new language.Reported speech can be a little bit confusing for the students and the teachers. I personally learned English growing up and as any native English we'd use the right tense when speaking without knowing what tense we're actually using just because we learned to speak that way. I think that going through the grammar rules and understand how reported speech works was useful.
