There were several things that were helpful, but the most helpful was the Phonemic Symbols part. I had never learned them, and knowing this will help teach students how to read and use a dictionary (like it helped me). Also it will help me learn to pronounce words correctly as it wasn't always taught to me in school. I like the simplicity and the self help ability this provides.Reading and Listening is very crucial in the learning of the new language. We don't only read/listen just to read/listen. We sometimes need to concentrate more on what we are reading/listening to to understand the context. It is very important for the students to grasp this early in the beginning of the learning of the new language rather than struggle halfway through the year.
