Teach English in QishA Zhen - Fangchenggang Shi
This unit focused on the variety of materials and teaching resources that an instructor might use in the classroom. These materials include low-tech items such as worksheets, flashcards, white boards, course books, and dictionaries, as well as things such as smart boards, CD players, computers, and overhead projectors. These things can be used in a variety of ways to enhance a lesson. For instance, visual aides can be used to engage students, or elicit language; audio devices can be used to sharpen listening skills; and smart boards can be used to make language-learning activities engaging and fun in a high-tech way. One important point is that the teacher must prepare beforehand, particularly when utilizing technology in a lesson. Smart boards can malfunction. Cassette players can eat tapes. CDs can skip. Computer programs glitch. In order to recover from these problems, the instructor should always anticipate them have a back up plan - printed worksheets or something else that the students can do in the event that things don't go as planned. I guess one thing that I learned from this lesson is that there is a tremendous amount of resources that a teacher can use to make a lesson fun and engaging. With a little bit of creativity and dedication, any lesson can be both educational and entertaining.
