Non-authentic classroom materials are produced for the classroom to aid in teaching. Authentic materials can provide realistic examples. The examples are less predictable than those of non-authentic sources. disadvantages to authentic materials include: It takes longer to source the material. It wasn't meant for the classroom. It may contain offensive content. One should try to make non-authentic material as authentic as possible. when designing non-authentic material keep in mind language or teaching point, how the material will be used, and for which levels. Whenever possible demonstrate the activity, rather than explain it. Asking students if they understand is ineffective, one should question the students to see if they understand.
